Not only that, huge EQ is required to show the correct amount of empathy, whilst keeping a business head on, keeping all staff ‘on side’ and understanding that your job is keeping the school full and vibrant. It’s more than a sales job, it’s keeping all sides happy at once whilst remaining entirely focused on targets. Those interviewing candidates should have a thorough understanding of the nuance of the role.

    I find it interesting that nobody has mentioned great listening skills and empathy which are the cornerstones of building rapport. Perhaps with written applications this is more difficult, and when you have multiple personal statements to read, I understand you switch off a little. However, any interviews had, or personal interactions should be filled with curiosity about that applicant, to find their real goals and aims, and indeed worries.Also.. these are very useful skills for dealing with other departments!
